I think M$ may well end up in third place by the time this generation is over. I think they'll tap out at about 70 Million units. A success by any standards - but still third place.

I brought a Wii at launch, but having been used to playing on my 360 for a year the Wii's visuals hurt my eyes and the controls alienated me from Twilight Princess. As a result, I sold the console on ebay a month later.

No, not really. If Nintendo survived the Cube it can survive the slow trickle of Wii's being sold and the loss on 3DS, before the WiiU starts to flow later this year.
I would love to fly around in a sandbox, but I don't know what else you could do to make the game interesting to play. I certainly have no desire to beat up giant robots/creatures for 10 hours.
I think we can all agree that Wii U is a least as powerful as the 7 year old xbox 360.

You realize M$ could do this now don't you? Its got nothing to do with the age of their console. They choose not to. Nintendo couldn't do it with the Wii because the online infrastructure wasn't there. M$ is, and has been for years.

Its strange, Nintendo will offer all their games day one online next to retail. Even M$ don't do that. You have to wait 6 months and pay more with xbox.

Depends on the type of games you like to play.
If you like shooters, then this gen is for you. If you like story-based adventure games, then its not.
I would rather see more games like Shenmue and Heavy Rain than COD or Gears of war, but I'm clearly in the minority here. That's why I game more on Steam. The PC has more of the games I want.

Sony have made the same mistakes with the VITA that they made with the PSP. They focused on power over innovation. Now, that might work against a chump like M$, but when you man up against the Handheld king, you better bring your A-Game. I mean, cheap affordable hardware, and a catalogue of games designed for your handheld that can't be played or replicated anywhere else. The Vita is just a portable PS3. The market want unique experiences...
